Going down memory lane...

When I have a child reaching a
milestone in their life I always end up
in my photo cupboard, going through the
boxes and albums and feeling kind of teary eyed.
This was my baby girl on the day she went
home from the hospital, all 5 lbs 11 oz of her,
and I was barely 19, and not even feeling the
least bit scared that I might not know how
to be a Mom!
Shana May
my "soon to be a bride" daughter,
WHERE oh where did the time go?!

Words of Wisdom

Here's to all the mothers' who have little ones at
home, lives filled with school age hustle and bustle
or the moms' who wonder if their teens will
ever grow out of the stage they're in...

Once I had a little girl, my first,
the one who gave me the name Mommy and
the first one to wrench my heart when
she proudly got on the school bus that
first day of kindergarten.
She came to me through
the years, to ask for prayer and to share
all her joys and sorrows.
Mine was the shoulder she cried on,
mine the ears who heard her tell of what
God had done in her life.
When we didn't
get along we always worked it out
eventually because she was willing to
face things until they were resolved.
I could tell  her things
that no one else would care to listen to
about my own journey with God and my
struggles to be all I wanted to be....

If I could have done one thing differently
I would have enjoyed the journey more....

because now she is going to become
a bride and walk away into her own life
where I will be only needed when asked
and her husband will become the one
she journeys with.
Our relationship will not be the same again.
Your child is yours in completeness
for such a little while!
ENJOY THE JOURNEY

Bridesmaid Clutches

At last I finished the clutches that the bridesmaids
will carry in lieu of flowers.
It was a very tedious
project as the fabric snagged easily,
it was a new pattern and also the
batting was a little too stiff for
the silk type fabric...
anyway they are done!
As with the felt flower bouquet I now
understand why the cost of these are
so high on the internet-they are time consuming!
But at a fraction of the cost (not including time!)
they were worth making.
They should look lovely next to the dark brown
dresses as an accent.
One more thing checked off the list
and less than 3 weeks to go...

Facing Fall Head On

As soon as the rain started to fall over
the weekend, I felt the gloominess coming on.
I knew by how dark my house felt
that even though it is fall and I usually
try to make things cozier, I needed to
lighten things up a bit to get through 9 months of
gray days...I dug in my closets and went out
to get a few bargains at local thrift stores.
And I just love how my dining room looks!
To lighten up the black side table
I added natural baskets with burlap inserts.
I also tied back my dark curtains w/ rope, moved a
large silk tree to the other side of the room
and the light just poured in!
Instead of rusts and golds
I used  mossy green as an accent.
I took out my dusty candles from the wall sconces
and added faux pears instead.
The lamp shade added a new look to an old lamp.
On the table I reused my burlap table runner from a
previous party and added an old wood tool box
with pears and moss for the center piece.
It truly is amazing how a few changes make
the room feel like a brand new house
and I spent less than the cost of new curtains:)

The pictures on my blog in a larger format?
Just click on the picture and it will pop up
in a larger format!
I had someone tell me I do my photos
too small and realized
some of you may not know
that you can see them better
by just a click!
Go ahead and give it a try!
See, now you can see his handsome face:)

Baby Sprinkle

Today we had a little family celebration for
Pierce. His Grammers (Daddy's Mom),
and Aunties joined
me, Tessa and Brielle for yummy food
and a relaxing visit.
Pierce did not appear impressed,
even though he got a truck and a
pounding bench!
The faux tree was in a bucket with marshmallows,
and with my trusty Cricut I was able to make
the cupcake toppers, banner, etc.
The Pumpkin Spice Latte Cupcakes were a hit
and are from Annie's Eats.
And big sis Brielle got a ballet outfit, which she
will probably never want to take off!

and loving words...I feel so honored that anyone
would take the time in their busy lives to
look into my little world of blogging.
Enjoy the roses with my love!

Fall in Newport

It's a beautiful time to visit the coast!

And a good time to breath in the smell
of ocean air and fish!
And to lie on the beach and fall asleep
to the sound of the waves
moving relentlessly onto the sand.
And to think about life and God
and how no one with any sense could
question His presence in creation...
And to rest...

Boy Colors

So now I need to start thinking in boy kind of
colors too for sewing and crafts:)
These are burp diapers that I quickly sewed
strips of fabric on to make them
a little "cooler" for my grand son.

Tissue Paper Hydrangeas

I've been having a hard time finding the right color
silk hydrangeas for the wedding.
When I was making tissue paper flowers for
another event I realized that if I cut the petal a certain way
and used the right color tissue paper I could
make these for the wedding!
I used my brown stamp pad to brush over
the finished flower to get the right look.

Conversations with a 2 Year Old

"Gamma, is it sunny?"
"Yes"
"No it's cloudy!"
"Where? I don't see any clouds!"
"Where is God?"
'Ummm, up in the sky..."
"In His house?"
"Yes, that's where He lives"
"Why?"
Because that's where He wants to live."
"I can't see His face!"
"No we can't, but He's there."
"Why? Are we going to my house?"
"No, we're going to see Mama and Baby."
"Where?"
At the Doctors."
Why?"
"Because that's where they are."
"Why?"
"ummm, look at those trees!"
"Why?"

Welcome Little Man!

We have a new Grandson!
It is so funny to see how much
a BOY he is already, none of the
delicate features that his sister had,
and mouth wide open "starving hungry"!
every second:)
I will have to start thinking trucks and dirt now.
It's been awhile!
One of his uncles said "he looks like a turtle and
sounds like a little pig, but it's cute."
I had to laugh, because it's so like a guy
to describe a baby like that!
