Scrapbooking Challenge # 24

"Use products from a blind grab
into your stash"
This was an unusual challenge for me!
I tend to spend the most time trying to
match everything carefully and planning
out my layout with all my embellishments and
paper in an arranged pile...
This you just grab and go!
But it was actually a lot of fun to try to make it
look like something I would want in my
scrapbook:)

Sketch #2 Stripes of Gold

I'm continuing on with my fun
fashion sketches...
and this character has kind of become
my alter ego...she's me but not...
and I like her:)

You may be seeing more of her in the weeks to come!

Scrapbooking Challenge #10

"Finish a Page in 30 minutes"

I had no idea how long it took me to do a page, but
I had no problem finishing in 30 minutes...
sometimes it pays to just lay it out and get it done!
I like it just as much as some I spend an hour on...

Reuse, Recycled Wedding to Great Room

In reusing some of the wedding purchases, I
was able to add some lighter touches
in this room too.
I also used a technique from Pottery Barn
and turned all my books with the spines
in and the page side out.
This gives a lighter and more uniform appearance to
the shelves...however if you are a book lover like me
it creates a problem as I have to turn 5 books
around to find the right one...so it may not stay this
way for too long!

Scrapbooking Challenge #32

This page is challenge #32 from
"52 more scrapbooking Challenges"
by E. Kartchner
"Design a layout using children's artwork"

I used a painting that Brielle did and cut out a tree
from the paper.
A great way to use one of her many
pictures and keep a memory from it too.

Sketch #1 Try it On for Size

I discovered a wonderful artist over at
She will take a picture of herself in an
outfit and then do a sketch/painting
of the look with a whimsical character
that represents it.
I just love the idea and so I gave it a try...
Please check her blog to see how it's
really supposed to be done though-
mine is just for fun!

I ended up with the page being too small for
the full sketch so had to add on a piece
at the bottom.
I also took a photo of the finished product
which made it difficult to get the
true effect. I will give it a try again soon
with another look and try to scan it next time.

Plaid Cape

The day I went to the Pendleton Mill
I bought some plaid fabric with the intent of
sewing a cape like I had seen from the 40s.
When I wear it I feel like I should be on the misty
moors of England or in Oxford:)
In other words I love it!
Sometimes the trends are worth following...
(in case you haven't noticed capes and shawls
are big this season.)

We are standing on Holy ground

How can we look around us in this
season of color and brilliance
and not say
"we are standing on Holy ground"?
For our Lord and Maker has
sprinkled the earth with
fierce brightness and in the cool
morning air walks in earths garden and
breathes out
the glory of Fall.

Candy Buffet -Wedding Collage #2

The candy buffet at the wedding
was a big hit!
I thought I'd be coming home with candy
to last for years but only had a
1 gal ziploc bag of it left over.

Reuse, Recycled Wedding to Kitchen

Several of the wedding idea websites
feature how to use the purchased items
from your wedding in your house
in whole new ways.
I decided to go ahead and redo above
my kitchen cabinets with some of the
wedding leftovers...
I also had bought some old scales at the vintage
sales this summer so those went up there too.
I really like how the whites and creams
lighten up the dark walls and tile.
I will be featuring some more recycling of
wedding things soon.

It takes a lot of help to do a Wedding!

I'm so blessed to have such great people
in my life who step up to the plate and
help when I ask...
the wedding couldn't have happened
without you!
" The Catering Service"
My son's girl friends did so much work!
and my sons did too:)
plus so many others who I did not get a picture of...
you know who you are and THANKS!
We weren't so busy that we didn't take time to
cuddle the little ones tho...they are the
delight of our hearts.

Letting My Mind Rest

Today I just needed to get away for
a few hours and not dwell on all
the last week wedding issues.
I also was in the mood for thinking about
FALL...
So I went for a short drive down to
the Pendleton Mill Store
and then browsed through
Camas Antiques before heading
back home.
I felt so refreshed and rested to just
be alone for awhile and not to really think at all.
You probably know by now that fall colors are my
all time favorite, esp. rust.
Notice the light above, fun look hey?
Check out the great idea for an old globe...
chalkboard paint!
And of course I always love
a retro tag on a plaid garment, that's a look I can
never bypass with my camera.
Hope all of you are enjoying the change of seasons
and getting out to do something fun when
you need a rest from life:)
