New Fave Color Combo

I never thought I would like gray and yellow

as a color combo, but after 

seeing it used here and there in bedding 

and decor I decided I like it a lot.

This is a tunic I made...

 And this is an outfit I thrifted, including

the jeans:)

My only problem is not to go overboard

and then get sick of it and have to empty

my closet AGAIN!

I think I might try it in my laundry which is already 
painted a soft yellow, so just adding
some white and gray might freshen it up.
 I never seem to be done in that room
so I might as well like it!

I Really Hate to Tell You This!

 I walked into Target today and the Swim Suits are

in stock!!!!

Unfortunately I had just made and eaten a very

large one of these just before I went shopping...

I quickly decided after a moment of depression

that I am going to embrace WINTER!

Being cold is not all THAT bad as

layering my clothing and wearing a bulky coat

 is part of that:)

No snow white lumpy thighs to be seen!

Shop My Closet #2

Here is a new idea to go with my love of dressing Nautical, add orange!

To get this look I shopped my closet again. I didn't have a striped navy and white scarf but when I was shortening a knit tunic I have I used the extra piece as the scarf and it looks great. Lots of women comment on how they love the coat but can't wear orange, I wear it and love it!

Shopping My Sewing Room? Hmmm

I spent 3+ hours one evening last week shopping every store in the mall trying to find a dress for our church Easter program....didn't like anything...too low in front...too short in length...too young ...too bohemian...too expensive! So I came home discouraged and then remembered I had this blouse on my sewing table and the only thing it was missing was buttons. So I spent 5 minutes sewing on buttons and I wore it with a white cardigan and dark demin skirt with a teal belt around the waist and it was just what I wanted. Sometimes I wonder about myself and the time I waste because I don't believe that what I already have is good! (This pattern is Butterick 5464)

Double Flower Power

I saw a similar idea at Anthropologie and JCrew and decided I'd try to make one. Once I got it done I've never had a chance to use it, I've tried it numerous ways but nothing looks quite right!

It is a simple project: Purchase 2 flowers with multi sized layers of petals. Divide up into 1 lg, 2 med, and 2 small. Glue to ribbon at appropriate spacing. Add buttons or beads as centers. (This could also be sewed together by hand.) I may try another one with different colors of flowers bunched in the center...but first I need to know....

Do you think it looks better as a sash or a neck piece? And does it look like something a bridesmaid would wear?! I love the vintage looking flower accents seen in fashion now, as headbands, hairpieces and pins, but it might not be a good look for someone my age:) Let me know what you think!

Shopping My Closet

Sometimes it pays to just shop your closet! I love the clothes and outfits that Ann Taylor Loft puts out, but when I saw this idea I thought , "hey, I think I've got enough similar pieces in my closet to put this outfit together with out spending a dime!" If I would have used some black "bling" it would've been pretty close, but I liked the gray instead.

I like to challenge myself once in awhile to see what I can come up with instead of rushing out to buy a new item. And plus with cropping and picnik.com I can even look as thin as the model :)
