Mirror, Mirror

Our challenge was to do something to a frame.
I found this Ikea mirror at Goodwill
and decided to use chalkboard paint
as the base and then added flowers.
That way anything you want can be written
on it:)

Springs' Perfidy

"New children play upon the green,
New weary sleep below;
And still the pensive spring returns,
And still the punctual snow!"

Peanut Butter Cookies

Peanut Butter Cookies (GF optional)

1/2 c. each of sugar and packed brown sugar
1/2 c. peanut butter (I use Adams old fashioned)
1/2 c. soft butter
1 egg
1 1/4c. All purpose GF flour or reg. flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4. tsp. salt
1 c. chocolate chips

Mix all ingredients well. Shape into balls and
place on baking sheet.
Flatten with a fork.
Bake at 350* for 8 minutes

These are a classic cookie, buttery and yummy.
I have had this recipe since my girls were little
from a childs' how to cook book.

I make these into balls and freeze.
When I want a fresh cookie I take out a couple to
thaw out and bake. That works best for me
as no one else likes PB cookies at my house:)

Hanna Dress

Our craft this week was to
come up with a copy
of something we've seen...
When the Hanna Andersson Catalog came
I saw this and knew I had fabric
and a pattern already
that would work.
Because it was for a baby I made
a pair of bloomers too.
Hanna cost $20
My cost w/ bloomers $5

Anthro Knock-off Apron

This was an easy knock-off
from Anthropologie,
but I changed the buttons
as I couldn't find what I wanted for
the right price.
This apron will be for available at
our sale in April.

My version is cream and white also, but
with the lighting in the photo it's hard to tell.

Boy or Girl?

My Great niece is having a
baby shower tonight
and because she doesn't know what
gender her baby is, I made
an outfit for each.
The jeans were purchased and embellished.
I also made a clipboard with some
note paper for those times when you are
 nursing or rocking and
you have a great idea but no where to
write it down:)
Yellow is one of her colors...

Cornmeal Biscuits

Theres' nothing I love more than
a hot biscuit with butter melting
over the top and sides!
I finally found a recipe that turned
out great with GF flour:)

Cornmeal-Buttermilk Biscuits

2 1/4 c.Mama's Almond Blend GF flour
2/3 c. yellow cornmeal
1 T. Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. cold butter
1 c. buttermilk or sour milk
1/3c. cheddar cheese

optional topping
1/4 c. butter melted
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 T. parsley flakes
1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning

Stir together dry ingredients. Using a pastry blender
cut in butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Make a well in the center of the dry mixture.
Add buttermilk and cheese. Stir just
until moistened. Drop by rounded
spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet.
Bake @ 450 for 8-10 minutes
Drizzle with butter topping if you want
a more savory biscuit.

These were wonderful hot and when
frozen and reheated they were great too.

Raggedy Ruffles Apron

This is an apron I came up with
using an old pattern
and then adding the ruffles.
It isn't white, more of a cream
altho it's hard to tell in the picture.
Super feminine:)
